Ssamjang (쌈μž₯) is a thick, seasoned Korean dipping paste made from a blend of fermented soybean paste (doenjang), red chilli paste (gochujang), and various seasonings. This classic condiment from CJ Haechandeul offers a deeply savoury, slightly sweet, and mildly spicy flavour profile, with rich umami notes from the fermented soybeans and a gentle heat from the chilli. It is the essential companion for Korean barbecue, used as a dipping sauce for grilled meats like pork belly (samgyeopsal) and beef, which are then wrapped in lettuce or perilla leaves. To use, simply add a small amount of ssamjang to your lettuce wrap along with a piece of grilled meat and perhaps some sliced garlic or green chilli for an authentic Korean BBQ experience.
